Veterans Housing

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates that approximately 60,000 Veterans are without appropriate shelter on any given night, and that 1.4 million Veterans are at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks, and dismal living conditions in substandard housing.

Victory Park: Lincoln, NE

On August 31, 2016, the VA, Seniors Foundation VA Vision, LLC, and Burlington Capital Real Estate, LLC, finalized an Enhanced Use Lease (EUL) agreement to transform the approximately 60-acre Lincoln Nebraska VA Medical Center campus.

Victory Park Veterans Residence (Victory Park) is a 3-story building comprising 70 units of permanent supportive housing supported by HUD/VASH housing vouchers. All 70 units, four of which are handicap-accessible, will be restricted to Veterans at or below 50% of the Area Median Income.

VASH vouchers have been allocated to this project by the Lincoln Housing Authority (LHA). Utilization of the HUD/VASH vouchers will ensure that the Veterans have on-going support and access to the services they need. Each VASH voucher will be assigned a Case Manager who will be responsible for identifying eligible Veterans. The Case Manager will assist the Veteran through the entire process of obtaining a voucher, entering into a lease agreement, as well as provide on-going case management as long as the Veteran is assigned the voucher. Service-based amenities will be provided as part of the project such as job training, life skills and addiction counseling.

Victory Apartments I & II:

In August of 2013, we opened the doors to Victory Apartments – Omaha (Victory I) at 825 Dorcas Street in Omaha, Nebraska. This project involved rehabilitation of a six-story building which was a former hospital. We constructed 90 project-based HUD Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) units which were leased in no time. The development also consists of commercial space which is being leased by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) who offers on-site services to our residents and their families including a food pantry. In addition to the on-site services provided by the VA, our residents also enjoy amenities such as community gathering space, laundry facilities, gymnasium and fitness center, restored grounds and landscaping.

The Victory Apartments II – Omaha project entailed the rehabilitation of the adjacent building to Victory I, with 60-units of permanent supportive housing supported by HUD/VASH housing vouchers. All 60 units, four of which are handicap-accessible, is restricted to Veterans at or below 50% of the Area Median Income.

Alike Victory Park, VASH vouchers have been allocated to this project by the Omaha Housing Authority (OHA).

Victory Park and Victory Apartments would not have been possible without the support of our partners  and the work of hundreds of individuals.
